“I’ve been working with Gina for years. First with lower back issues (due to working as a retinal surgeon) and more recently with left knee issues due to golfing. The back issues have been gone for years now, but I still play golf regularly and I’ve developed left knee tightness.

Because of COVID, we haven’t had an in-person session in a few months. I’ve been struggling with my left knee for a few months now, so we tried a virtual session over ZOOM. After watching me walk across my living room, she figured it may be an issue with balance and mobility through my left ankle and toes related to the plantar fascia and transverse fascia of my left foot. “Gina is a gem, I can’t recommend her enough! I have scoliosis with Harrington rods and a large spinal fusion (T4-L4). I’ve been seeing Gina for 6 months now and she has been helping me get my body back into a more natural alignment and we’ve been working through reducing nerve and muscle pain. “Can I give Gina 10 stars?!!!  I’m still in amazement of how different I feel after only one treatment! I had heard of rolfing for many years and had always wanted to try it. I’m so glad I did! I walked out of there feeling like a completely different person. I felt lighter and could breath easier – which was a relief after suffering from a sinus infection for weeks!  I can’t explain how it works – but it does. My rounded shoulders feel more in place and I just feel better.
I didn’t know quite what to expect. I heard I’d be in my underwear – awkward! But so not awkward because Gina is so professional about her work. We sat and discussed rolfing and treatment plans (there are a series of 10 spread weeks apart) and then the session began with walking and standing to observe posture and gait. Then I laid on the table – which is incredibly soft – and Gina did her magic! “Gina is a lifesaver.  As a practicing retinal surgeon, I find myself contorting my body in so many different angles in order to examine and treat my patients.  After a decade, my body has said enough is enough.  With frequent lower back spasms and lower extremity stiffness, I found it more and more challenging to move around often leading to nightly ice packs and Advil.  Upon the recommendation of my wife, I had my first assessment with Gina.  Like any astute health care provider, she was attentive, inquisitive, and informative of how rolfing could be helpful.  For nearly 2 hours, she worked on my body from head to toe releasing releasing stiff and calcified muscle attachments, ligaments, and tendons from bones.  I won’t lie, it hurt.  But the immediate relief was incredible.  I’ve had 5 sessions now and the dramatic improvement is noticable.  Not only does she improve the function of your body, but she teaches you strategies on how to maintain what we worked on at each session.  While seeing patients, I’ve kept in mind posture, large muscle and fine muscle movements.  I rarely need advil and ice.  One more thing, my golf swing has better rotation and each club has given me 10 to 20 extra yards!  I hope this review is helpful, but please don’t get TOO BUSY that I can’t get in. I could write all the usual words we use everyday- “amazing” “awesome” “fabulous” etc., but that would not nearly express what I feel. From my first appointment, the word that I have used over and over again is merely “profound.” She has eased aches and pain from my everyday life, found and erased my body’s long held patterns of dis-function, and enabled better breathing and posture to help me into the future. Yes, that is what it felt like after my first Rolfing session with Gina.

Why? Well, I have been suffering from chronic lower back pain for the past 12 years, but that doesn’t deter me from running/training for marathons.  Runners would know what I am talking about when I associate this activity with pain and soreness.  So, I went for my first Rolfing session on a Sunday evening and then next morning had a 5-mile run scheduled.  I thoroughly surprised myself by running non-stop, faster and WITHOUT any pain or soreness.  After my second Rolfing session, I was able to run non-stop for 10 miles.  Knowing me…(I HAD to take walk breaks every half mile before)…this is an unbelievable feat!  I have now completed 5 sessions of Rolfing and haven’t felt better!  Not only during runs, but also doing general day-to-day activities.  I regret having waited so long to try this therapy.

And Gina is AWESOME!  I have known her for three years now (through numerous massage sessions before I submitted to Rolfing), and she definitely has thorough knowledge in her field of expertise.  She constantly shares her wisdom which has helped me become more conscious of my postures through out the day.  Now, even those long hours of sitting in front of the the computer doing my day job doesn’t leave me with stiff shoulders and back.
